MISSION 2020 – NEAT AND CLEAN INDIA!! IS IT POSSIBLE OR NOT??

In my dreams, I see India as a place where I do not find stinking air, even a tiny piece of paper on roads, people spitting on the roads or walls, anybody peeing along the roadside, anybody using poly bags, innocent kids begging for food and money. I see India as a country where everything goes in accordance with the system, where I don’t see anybody honking unnecessarily while driving or arguing in the middle of the road. Well, my wish list to will go on and on to make my country India the best place to live in but I know, you know that this is not the reality.

 

You all might be thinking that these all must be happening in dreams only! Or you would say get something real and come out of ideal world! But if I tell you that such ideal places exist in the world and to name a few, I would say there are countries like Germany, Switzerland, France, and Japan .All these countries have their unique way of social and civil life style which makes them an ideal place to live in.

Now you will say that they are way ahead of us in terms of technology and economy which actually helps them to keep their city, state and country neat and clean. Trust me; it is about our own belief only that if we decide to contribute then it is possible and in fact it is very easy to make our country a neat and clean place but the point is that our complacent attitude and ignorance to shoulder our responsibilities makes things worst. It is we who litter our vicinity, our roads and our society.

A lot of times, I have heard that we people want to live in a neat and tidy house but not in a neat and clean city but What I feel that to make things better, it is not only our community who can do it alone but it is our governance too who has to contribute via building better infrastructure in order to make things happen. What is lacking is a common drive across nation.

Now let us study the root cause of the problem and what could be the solution to encounter each problem faced by the society to make India a neat and clean country.

1) People throwing garbage on the road, railway stations and gardens
Why – Because they don’t find any trashcan nearby where garbage can be thrown. Second reason is our complacent attitude.
Solution
1) Govt. authority should ensure dustbin facility at every street corner.
2) While travelling, to manage things better, we can always carry small trash bag in our car where we can throw small garbage (wrappers/can/leftover food/papers) and the same can be finally disposed at proper place like street dustbin or house dustbin.
3) Here, our attitude will play a vital role. Believe me; people in foreign countries have been following this simple practice for last so many years.

 

2) Spitting& Peeing on the roads and walls
Why – Because if not on roads and walls then where to spit or pee.
Solution - There has to be a solution because how long will people take to realize the importance of our motherland. It’s time for each and every one of us to give back what she deserves.
1) To deal with this problem, why cannot we have our own spit bags while travelling? It is more comfortable!
2) Those who travel without spit bags and want to spit then they can spit at nearby toilets.
3) Yes it is essential that we must have toilet facility at every 500mtrs to begin with and 2 toilet facilities in big societies and garden.

 

If these solutions are implemented properly then I am sure this spitting and peeing on the roads will become part of history and we can have stink free roads and clean walls.

 

 

 

 How to Implement and Monitor –Where there is a will, there is a way. There are several ways to monitor these things and ensure effective implementation. To make things simpler and easier, we can implement this in metro cities and later on, the same can be replicated in other cities and towns of India. First and foremost thing is that it is our govt. authority, be it local or state or central that has to build and ensure all these facilities and then we can expect our community to adhere to the system. Let us see what are the possible ways to monitor and implement in order to make our India a neat and clean place.

1) Let private authority take the maintenance responsibility of these facilities.
2) Rolling out fine system in case of failure to adhere the system.
3) Take a snap of the individual breaking rules and publish in local newspaper.
4) Go and talk to the person in case he/she is not following the system.
5) Govt. should build adequate cells and one toll free no. to connect with public.
6)  Good citizens should be rewarded for their good work.
7) Every individual should take it as a daily mission.
8) In schools and colleges, this practice should be implemented by students.
9) Each RWA should be made responsible for their local area.

10) Govt. should use digital and other marketing mediums to disseminate this message out.

I have always heard that India is a country of a youth population and India has a great future. It is a matter of time only, one day India will rock for sure. When we do not know! If we do not know then why we have not taken a single step towards making India a better place to live in? Nothing happens overnight and if there is right time to start anything then it is NOW. I believe, if we can’t contribute our bit then we have no rights to crib about it. If we want to do it for our country then do it now by taking small initiatives and it is time to lead by an example. Let us move ahead together.

 

Let us all pledge that we will not take our motherland for granted and we will make our country neat and clean and send a very clear message not only to the rest of the world but also to our upcoming generations as they are the one who are supposed to take it forward as mature and responsible citizens of this beautiful country.

 

 I hope we all are ready to pull up our socks and ready to make India the best place to live in the world. Yes it is possible but this time let us not wait.

If I ask you about the country which has been blessed with world’s most scenic places besides following religion which is syncretic and unified in nature consists of mountains, including more than 200 volcanoes and 6800 islands. The country where Harmony being the guiding philosophy, people actually believes in and die for helping others and working towards betterment of society and universe together. Japan is a country with fascinating culture and history and not many people around the world know about this country as there is almost no immigration in Japan, so I thought I would share some of the interesting facts I’ve learned about this divine place from my own experience.

 

It will be very interesting to see which are those 10 things this amazing country cannot live without!!

1) Pachinko–Pachinko parlors are widespread in Japan and they usually also feature a number of slot machines hence, these venues operate and look similar to casinos .At first glance, it sounds like “Gambling” but Japanese call it “Gaming”.

                        
Japanese people are very passionate and addicted to gaming and that’s what made this Pachinko a big success. The pachinko industry constitutes Japan's largest leisure activity.

A pachinko fanatic women left her kids suffocating inside the car in the parking lot for hours while she was totally engrossed with the slot machine game.

 

Another major reason behind pachinko’s success is that solitude is very common and respected. Just to highlight the craziness/madness/passion that Japanese people have for these slot machine games, I would quote an incident that was published in the local newspaper here in japan.

Karaoke is also a popular free-time activity. People enjoy karaoke not only with friends but also with colleagues from work or family members.

 

2) Night Clubs–You must be wondering if there is any place for fun and entertainment in Japanese community which is highly discipline and shy in nature and dedicated to their professional work and personal both!! Then answer is yes. I must say that if you want to see fun loving nature of Japanese people then you must visit these night clubs and I am sure you all will start believing that they have their own style of fun.

 

 

 

During day time, they are focused towards their work but during night times, they become very loud and fun loving in nature. I was amazed to see the another side of these people's personality at night clubs. Night clubs are something they cannot live without.
 
Tokyo’s best known night clubs places are at Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi.

3) Fashion–Japanese people have an incredible sense of style. Fashion plays a huge role in Japanese people’s everyday life because in Japan, fashion is considered to be a simple way to express yourself, to manifest who you are, and to show others that you are aware of the newest trends. If you want to know which are the latest fashion trends amongst girls then I would say just follow “Tokyo Girls Collection”.

Japan is famous for its amazing street fashion. The popular Japanese Street fashion trends are known as Lolita style, Kogal Style, Ganguro style etc.

Gothic Lolita, which is a blend of sweet porcelain doll look and more wild styles as goth and punk ones

Gyaru are trend seekers who change their style every few months. The one constant feature is a Japanese beach style — dark tanned skin and surfer girl hair
 

 

Kogals are gyaru who are still in high school and therefore stuck with their uniform most of the time.

 

 

Ganguro falls into the larger subculture of gyaru. The ganguro style consists of bleached hair, a deep tan, fake eyelashes, black and white eyeliner, bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and platform shoes.

4) Metro Trains–Again, Metro trains are also an integral part of their way of life. I must say that it is certainly the life line of Japan. The way the whole Japan is connected by these metro trains have actually helped Japanese community to live a high standard life.

These metro trains actually play a vital role in Japanese people’s ability to reach their destination on time and have been supplementing their highly paced life.

 

I would say if you want to see the error free system equipped with discipline, punctuality, planning and execution, Japanese metro train is the perfect example.

5) Mobile (Keitai) – Imagining Japanese people without mobile phones!!! You’ve got to be kidding me. From school age to middle aged adults, mobile phones have become the most essential part of their life/a way of their life.

While travelling on metros, walking on streets, even while having lunch or a cup of coffee, more often than not you might see Japanese people engaged with their handsets.

I’ll tell you, It’s actually one heck of a sight watching Japanese people briskly walking and making their way through the crowd on metro stations with their heads down and eye balls fixed to their cell phones’ screens.

Many people in Japan use both a cell phone and smartphone to make the most of the features of each type of phone. You must be wondering what they do all the time on phones. Ok!!! Since long cell phone conversations are discouraged on public transportations like metro train, most of them either access internet to chat with friends ,play animated video games or read comics.

 

6) Vending Machine –One just cannot be thirsty in Japan. Japan has the highest number of vending machines per capita with around 1 machine for every 20 people. Here you can find vending machines at every nook and corner of the street. Seriously, at every 50mtr distance, there is one vending machine accessible to everybody at all times.

 

Quite interestingly, these machines change their temperature and stocks depending on the season. It barely takes 10 sec to get your drink from vending machines and the best part is that 100-150 yen is all you need to fetch a flavored mineral water bottle and quench your thirst.

Vending machines in Japan sell beer, hot and cold canned coffee, cigarettes, and other items like packaged foods, flowers, manga comics, toy cars etc. and yes, when it comes to flavored drinks then it is at its best.

7) Coffee – is highly preferred and highly consumed beverages in Japan. You find most of the café shops all time full with people from all walks of life as they love to hang out at café shops.

 

Japan imports approximately 85% of Jamaica's annual coffee production. Black Coffee is the most preferred beverage during business meetings. Japan has cafes where people can play with puppies and kittens.
 

8) Fish, Rice and noodles–“Sushi” and Noodle dishes such as ramen and soba are preferred dishes. Former is prepared by hand-molded portions of vinegared rice which  are topped with slices of raw fish, shellfish, and other ingredients.

 

Keeping fast paced life of Japan/Japanese people into consideration, food prepared outside the home is mostly consumed by them during their lunch and dinner time. They call this boxed Japanese meal as ‘Obento’.

9) Leisure Activity– Hanging out with Family on weekends is the most preferred leisure activity in Japanese culture. Post retirement leisure activities, Family oriented leisure activities and children specific leisure activities. Some of them might prepare a camp fire on a day off, visit a hot spring resort, participate in sports club.
 

10) Non Verbal Communication – Since Japanese strive for harmony which is guiding philosophy in family and business, they often rely on facial expression, tone of voice and posture to tell them what they feel.
 

They often give distinct and prominent gestures while giving nonverbal messages. They find it hard to say “No” or “Excuse Me” to anyone so they prefer others to understand their nonverbal expressions.

 

Expressions to watch out for include puffing through scrunched teeth, tilting the head, scratching the back of the head, and scratching the eyebrow.
